Golf Course

Independence Golf Club is Richmond's newest and most upscale daily-fee golf course designed by world renowned Tom Fazio, owned and operated by the Virginia State Golf Association Foundation.

The VSGA Foundation, a not for profit 501-c-3 organization whose purpose is to foster amateur and junior golf in the state of Virginia, started planning for the facility nearly 15 years ago. Independence Golf Club opened in October 2001 and was named by Golf Digest magazine among the 'Best Places to Play' for 2004-2005, 2007-2008, and 2008-2009. In 2009-2010 Golf World's Readers Choice Awards honored Independence Golf Club as the No.3 Best Public Golf Course in the Country, as well as the No.1 Best Public Practice Facility in the Country.

The addition of Independence Golf Club makes the state's capital, once thought of mainly as a place to view Civil War history, as a legitimate golf destination. As both golf club and learning center, this one-of-kind facility offers the only daily fee Tom Fazio design Championship 18-Hole and 9-Hole Short Course in the Commonwealth of Virginia, an impressive Jeffersonian-style clubhouse known as Charles House, the Museum of Virginia Golf History, Swink Lodge and Robins Cottage, an extensive practice area, and a multitude of programs for juniors of all skill levels.

The VSGA Foundation now welcomes and invites you to make the experience of Independence Golf Club your own. For all who love golf and its values and traditions - or will come to love them from what they learn here - you will see that Independence Golf Club is a place of special meaning, accomplishment and enjoyment.
