Winterfgreen Golfing, Not Just A Winter Destination!

Test Your Game at These Renowned Virginia Golf Courses

Wintergreen Resort, the Mid-Atlantic's most exciting year-round playground, is a golfer's haven. Two courses. Two completely different designs. Two invigorating experiences. All in one stunning Virginia golf resort.
Devils KnobThe mountaintop Devils Knob Golf Course is, well, a cool place that is fun to play. As the highest golf course in Virginia (elevation 3,850 feet), guests know they can escape the summer heat at Devils Knob (average temperature around 76 degrees). Perennially ranked as one of Virginia's best courses, its panoramic views become a visual smorgasbord of color in the fall.
Down in the historic Rockfish Valley, Stoney Creek Golf Course flows through a setting that is as relaxing as it is challenging. World-renowned golf architect Rees Jones designed a trio of nines that blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings. Playable year round, there are times when you can ski at the Wintergreen Resort and play golf at this central Virginia golf course on the same day.

Sitting at an elevation of over 3,800 feet, players leave Devils Knob golf course remembering narrow fairways, consistently excellent turf conditions and unsurpassed vistas. Typically 12-18 degrees cooler even than its sister golf course, Stoney Creek, Devils Knob golf course provides Virginia's coolest playing conditions throughout the summer and the most dramatic mountain foliage backdrop throughout the fall. Stoney CreekGolf year round in the Rockfish River valley on our nationally ranked Stoney Creek Golf Course, and you'll discover why Conde Nast Traveler magazine selected Wintergreen as one of the "Top 50 Golf Resorts in the World."
Upon completion of this gem, the "Open Doctor" Rees Jones remarked, "I think what Stoney Creek is to me, is one of the great settings in mountain golf.' And why not? Offering spectacular vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Monocan, Shamokin and Tuckahoe "nines" wind their way through the ancient Rockfish Valley and combine to make this a contemporary design classic. Stoney Creek has truly become one of the most beloved tests of golf in the mid-Atlantic. And, as if players were not sufficiently challenged by the elevation changes, contoured greens and the occasional side hill lie, Jones brought the natural elements of the landscape into play: meandering streams, hardwood forests and pristine wetlands. When playing the course for the first time, one should be careful to not be distracted by the stunning scenery or wildlife ...… it may cost them yet another par.
Winter golf in Virginia? It's true. Few other places on earth provide the opportunity to snow ski in the morning and play championship-caliber golf later in the day. Because of a dramatic 3,300 foot change in elevation, it happens at Wintergreen. Won't you join us?
